I hope this site will give you information about band and orchestra classes at Conestoga and Hillcrest Elementary schools.
Practice slips will be handed out the first week of October and they will be due the first day of class each week (beginning October 8). The more minutes the student practices each week, the more points they will earn. My target is 60 minutes a week for an A+ on the practice grade. The practice grade is 10% of the students' total grade.
Each practice slip needs to be signed by a parent. This does not mean you have to personally witness the practicing, but that you are aware of how many minutes your child practiced his/her instrument.
Beginning students are only able to practice about 10 minutes at a time. This is because their muscles are not yet developed to practice effectively any longer than that. If a student wants to practice longer than 10 minutes, have them take at least a 20 minute break in between practice sessions.
